Dr. Devashish Das Gupta is presently Associate Professor of marketing at IIM Lucknow where, he has been for the past ten years. He has around two decades of industrial and academic experience with him. Prior to his academic career he was with Grasim Industries Ltd in the worsted suiting department of the Textiles division. There he handled assignments related to Retail network development and Product Promotion and development. He was dealing with the brand Golden Glade of Worsted Suitings.
Prior to IIML Prof Devashish was with Nirma Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (now part of Nirma University) where he handled important portfolios like Chairman PGP Fulltime programme, Chairman, Courses Review Committee, Chairman Research and Publication committee. Besides this he has also taught at IIM Kolkata, IIM Indore, as well as Staff Colleges of Bank of Baroda and State Bank of India. He has a PhD in Business Administration besides B.Com (Hons) and MBA.
Prof. Devashish has so far served as management consultant and corporate trainer to many MNCs in India and abroad. This includes organisations like Nokia, BNP Paribas, Bayer, SBI, Bank of Baroda, GAIL, NABARD, SIDBI, LIC, BPCL, Gujarat Ambuja Cement, All India Radio, Indian Armed forces’ officers, Sr. IPS Officers, CBSE, Sify, GNFC, Indo-Gulf Fertilisers, Zuari Agro, Chambal Fertilisers, Ministry of Human Resources, Govt of India, Ministry of Agriculture, Govt of UP as well as several other multinational and regional organisations. His doctoral research has been published as a book titled “Product Management in Post Liberalised Era” by VDM Verlag Dr Muller, Germany.
He is author of the book “Tourism Marketing” published by Pearson Education which is the first book in its genre. This book has been endorsed by many top international academicians including the legendary Prof Philip Kotler. Currently his third book and edited one titled Tourism in the Global village is in print from LAP LAMBERT Publishing, Germany.
Dr. Devashish’s research & consulting areas are Innovations in Marketing practices and Customer Value Proposition, Retailing, Food Retail Strategies & Tourist Destination Marketing. His teaching areas are Marketing, Consumer Behaviour, Retail Marketing, Destination Marketing, Food Retail, and Marketing Communication. He also conducts workshops on Leadership in Practice, Pedagogy and Case Methods, as well as other self-development issues.
